You may have been one of those who have been approached by other companies asking you to do joint ventures with them. Or you may be the one contemplating approaching others for joint partnerships.

If you feel that you have a good product and are willing to enter into a deal with other businesses, where both of you get to enjoy the profits that you will be getting from your joint ventures.

Take into account that when you give out a joint venture proposition to another party, you have to be sure that you are certain about what you are offering.

Other companies will also want to be assured that you will be worth promoting. Like you, they do not want to cloud their reputations by involving their selves in something that sells poor quality products or not credible services. Your reputation as well as their own could be equally positively or negatively affected.

Some individuals and their businesses may not be able to see the significance or understand the concept behind joint ventures. This is where you have to educate them on what the business is about and what they will be getting from it.

If you are the one doing the marketing campaign and are being endorsed by these companies, try to give out majority of the profits you are getting. This is a way of showing your sincerity in sharing all the benefits you are getting with them.

You also get to pay for all the marketing costs. If you think these are all too much, fast forward into the future and think about the steady stream of profits you will be getting once the business is already established. By spending some today, you will have it back doubled or even tripled.

So the opposite is true, if a company approached you and wanted to market to your customer list and make use of your endorsement, you will want to keep most of the profits. The fact that they are just building up their customer list by selling to your customer list, you would want to be sure of their credibleness first.

You still have to know if they are a reputable business. It would be discouraging if you found out in the end that what they are offering is not really made of quality and good service. Your reputation is put in line of fire too.

How much money should you expect in a joint venture business?

The amount of money you will get when you do a joint venture is fully based upon the deal you have set up with your partner. If you are going to market to another company’s customer list, you get to take a smaller part of the profit.

If it is the other way around, expect to pocket more of the profits you both have acquired. In joint ventures, there are really no rules set. It all depends on the products or services you are offering, the cost of advertising and the deals you have made with your partner. What should you do to achieve a successful joint venture marketing?

If you are approaching another business in need of their endorsements, be certain that they already have a solid and stable trust built up with their customers.

If you notice that they are in constant contact with their customers, then it is a sure sign that their customers trust them enough to maintain communication. It also follows that the more their customers trust them, the more money they are making.

Some business even have to send only an email to their customers to tell them about the newest product and these customers will respond instantly and buy from them. This should be the sort of business you should do joint venture with.

In addition, you would want to deliver a product in your joint venture that is of superior quality and has the capacity to yield more profits. This had better be first and foremost in your mind especially when you are approaching a big company for partnership.

How do you get started in joint venture?
·	Write down your goals and desired outcome
·	Analyze the target market you want to reach
·	Identify potential partners who already serve this business
·	Determine your joint venture arrangement
·	Determine your budget
·	Create an action plan and carry it out
·	Contact your partners and open the door for discussions
·	Decide on either a contract or a handshake deal
·	Launch your joint venture and test the results

These steps are simple and easy to execute. If you follow them, you can look forward to having profitable, win-win joint venture projects! As with any marketing strategy, remember to test, tweak, track and review results until you find the best fit.

You have the ability to go it alone and have the benefits all to yourself.

But the best thing to do is find the business that you think will be very useful when combined with yours.

Adwords – Are You Hitting Your Target?

Hitting your target with Google Adwords “PPC” or Pay per Click advertising can get expensive quick, especially if you haven’t done your homework. It can also be like beating your forehead with a rock when you think you’ve done everything correctly and get clicks but no sales.

However, in terms of paid advertising online, no other has a more effective reach, performance or instancy than a Google AdWords campaign. That being stated, there are other forms of online paid advertizements, mainly banner ads: every types, every styles, every sizes are available. And, let’s not leave out the social media opportunities such as Facebook which functions similar to Google with added features to the search such as reaching those of a certain age, geographic area, gender, etc.

Since the purpose of this is understanding Adwords, let’s look at the possible benefits of running a Google AdWords campaign:

1. No minimum amount you have to spend. It is entirely up to you as to how much money you want to spend on your ad campaign.

2. No upfront money is needed as it is a pay as you go kind of financial relationship. You pay only for the clicks that your ad gets.

3. You can create your campaign easily and effortlessly. Actually you will likely want to spend more time on selecting your keywords than on anything else related to your campaign.

4. Speedy placement of your ad. Once approved you are good to go and your ad will start to appear when the searcher’s keywords match yours.

5. The location or placement of your ad depends on your bid on certain keywords. (Don’t worry, Google will inform you if your bids are too low based on what others are bidding for a choice position for their Google AdWords ad.) You have the opportunity to increase your bid and rise ahead of your competition for that keyword at any time. If you are marketing expensive watches, chances are you will not have someone clicking through to your website (and wasting your money on paying for their clicks) as for example their keyword search was for “baseball supplies” not “expensive watches”.

6. You can pause or completely stop your campaign at any time. No need to set particular dates beforehand when you want to end a campaign, you simply log into your account and pause or delete your campaign at will.

7. You can manage how much you spend on your campaign by setting a maximum amount to be spent daily. When this amount is reached, your ad will no longer appear to receive additional clicks and cost you more than you want to spend.

8. The greatest feature of all is the rapid response rate of specifically-targeted traffic. Once your ad goes live, you should immediately start to get response in the form of traffic to your website.

With the popularity of a Google AdWords campaign, comes the increased costs of what it will cost you for each click on a particular search term or keyword. But on the other side of the coin, you could find certain rarely used keywords allowing you to pay a few cents for a page one listing for that particular search term. This is the beauty of developing niches and niche keywords.

Maybe the best advice I can give you is to spend carefully at first. Eliminate those keywords that break the dollar threshold until after you know that your campaign is working. How will you know? Your website traffic and the chances for sales conversion rates will increase. At this point, if you increase your AdWords budget you can expect even more clicks which will bring about even more conversions.

There are several keyword research tools available on the net. One free version you can try is Spyfu. It is not exactly a tool but a resource in which you can load either a website or keyword and find the top competition for either. It can also give you some other keywords that often searched in the same field.

I use MicroNicheFinder to research keywords for articles, domains, and possible niche sites. It is also handy to plugin in a keyword and it will give you an idea what Google Adwords is going to charge you per click and how many monthly searches that keyword gets as well as related keywords. It has become invaluable to me.

you’re All Worthless And Weak
we’re Not Gonna Take It Anymore
now Drop And Give Me Twenty
we’re Not Gonna Take It
oh Crinch Pin
no, We Ain’t Gonna Take It
oh You And Your Uniform
we’re Not Gonna Take It Anymore

There’s so much of my life that I time mark with music. This memory was jarred by a recent post on Facebook from one my internet marketing buddies, Tom “The Furry Hat Guy” Yatar.

He posted a lyric from this tune and immediately I was mentally transported back to an afternoon in my past.

Okay, let me set the scene. I was 20, working at an oilfield supply store in my little South Texas town and this job was actually my third in three years. Due to the economy, not anything that I did, as times tightened up last hired usually meant first fired.

So there I was working for this pretty well known company when a corporate decision was made to close that store and move it to another town a couple hours away.

My boss called me into his office and told me the news, said, “Sorry, we’re moving and got to let you go”.

Well to a 20 year old me who had wasted a lot of hours working in the hot South Texas sun for these guys, that didn’t sit so well.

I walked out to my 1966 white Mustang, popped Twister Sister into the cassette deck, yes, back then it was state of the art. In fact, side note, I got 2nd place in a “Crank Off” (loud car stereo competition) that year with the same car. Anyway, kicked on that tune, loudest possible, both 10″ subwoofers booming, the rest of the 8 speakers blaring “WE’RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT, NO…NOT GONNA TAKE IT!

Then tore out of the parking lot, tires spinning.*WINK*

I miss that car.*SMILE*

The years have added some sense of wise to some of my actions. But the heart of that 20 year old still resides in my body and still screams “WE’RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT”, when things present themselves to interfere with myself and my family. “WE’LL FIGHT, YOU SEE”

What is it in your life that you will no longer tolerate? You’ve been pushed up against the wall, now fight back, for yourself, scream “WE’RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE”.

This appeared recently in one of my email accounts from SalesLadder, a recruiting agency and resume service for high end, $100,000 a year plus jobs.

As account executive you have to be ever vigilant of the new tricks and tips of the sales process. You also have to be on your toes if you are being paid what you should be for your position.

When you find yourself in the position of updating your resume, you need to think of what the potential employer is looking for, or what kind of “problem” he is trying to resolve.

In the Sales process, the problem-solver is the future sales maker and has always been my approach at sales.

If you do not understand your clients needs, then you do not know how or what to sale them.

Read through this ancient resume to see how Leonardo Da Vinci attempted to resolve his potential employer’s problems and how he “Sold” himself without sounding pompous or by bragging.

The translation of this letter is quite remarkable:

“Most Illustrious Lord, Having now sufficiently considered the specimens of all those who proclaim themselves skilled contrivers of instruments of war, and that the invention and operation of the said instruments are nothing different from those in common use: I shall endeavor, without prejudice to any one else, to explain myself to your Excellency, showing your Lordship my secret, and then offering them to your best pleasure and approbation to work with effect at opportune moments on all those things which, in part, shall be briefly noted below.

1.	I have a sort of extremely light and strong bridges, adapted to be most easily carried, and with them you may pursue, and at any time flee from the enemy; and others, secure and indestructible by fire and battle, easy and convenient to lift and place. Also methods of burning and destroying those of the enemy.

2.	I know how, when a place is besieged, to take the water out of the trenches, and make endless variety of bridges, and covered ways and ladders, and other machines pertaining to such expeditions.

3.	If, by reason of the height of the banks, or the strength of the place and its position, it is impossible, when besieging a place, to avail oneself of the plan of bombardment, I have methods for destroying every rock or other fortress, even if it were founded on a rock, etc.

4.	Again, I have kinds of mortars; most convenient and easy to carry; and with these I can fling small stones almost resembling a storm; and with the smoke of these cause great terror to the enemy, to his great detriment and confusion.

5.	And if the fight should be at sea I have kinds of many machines most efficient for offense and defense; and vessels which will resist the attack of the largest guns and powder and fumes.

6.	I have means by secret and tortuous mines and ways, made without noise, to reach a designated spot, even if it were needed to pass under a trench or a river.

7.	I will make covered chariots, safe and unattackable, which, entering among the enemy with their artillery, there is no body of men so great but they would break them. And behind these, infantry could follow quite unhurt and without any hindrance.

8.	In case of need I will make big guns, mortars, and light ordnance of fine and useful forms, out of the common type.

9.	Where the operation of bombardment might fail, I would contrive catapults, mangonels, trabocchi, and other machines of marvellous efficacy and not in common use. And in short, according to the variety of cases, I can contrive various and endless means of offense and defense.

10.	In times of peace I believe I can give perfect satisfaction and to the equal of any other in architecture and the composition of buildings public and private; and in guiding water from one place to another.

11.	I can carry out sculpture in marble, bronze, or clay, and also I can do in painting whatever may be done, as well as any other, be he who he may.

Again, the bronze horse may be taken in hand, which is to be to the immortal glory and eternal honor of the prince your father of happy memory, and of the illustrious house of Sforza.

And if any of the above-named things seem to anyone to be impossible or not feasible, I am most ready to make the experiment in your park, or in whatever place may please your Excellency – to whom I comment myself with the utmost humility, etc.”

He simply stated what he could do and was more than willing to demonstrate or provide any examples that were needed.

Now that is self confidence!

I was slow to get on the Twitter band wagon. I had already spent countless hours on other social sites, myspace, youtube, skype, yuwie (pronounced YUCKIE!). Anyway, the last thing I needed was another time black hole, so no, I went kicking and screaming.

But I have to admit, I love Twitter. Where else can I jump from topic to topic, or spread an affiliate link to 6000+ followers in two clicks.

I just wish I had more than 140 characters to work with sometimes.

It does have that standing around the water cooler at work feel sometimes.

There is an art though to being a proper Twitteree.

These are some of mine.
*Tweeting is not texting..so leave that cursed shorthand to the texters.
*Typing in all caps is still “YELLING!”, and using all lower case means you’re lazy.
*Drop an occasional link, if all of you’re Tweets are affiliate links, um..it’s called SPAM.
*If all of you’re Tweets are news articles,..BORING.

Mix it up for cripes sake, the general idea is that you’re at a giant social event. So imagine someone standing in a corner sputtering Shakespeare quotes every 5 minutes. The first couple are cool, but after that I’m heading over to the bar and getting a Jack-N-Coke.

Look in the other corner and there is some guy handing his business card to anyone that looks in his direction.

Now you’re getting it. It’s okay to talk about business, but don’t come off like a firehose.

It’s a great tool to use to build your online presence. You can get a lot of “followers” fast, so give quality and you will get quality back.

Oh, I almost forgot, look me up at WhatamanJackson and feel free to give me a tweet.

Each of us has faced it at one time or another. Beginning a new project, or maybe starting a new business, possibly doing the most crucial part of your business that actually makes it a credible money-producing venture for yourself.

At the beginning, your mind can only think of how big the task is, how much needs to be done, how long the journey will be till the task is completed.

To the mind the task can be daunting, impossible to achieve.

When all that needs to happen is just starting, just get yourself going.

You know what you have to do, you know what is expected, you’ve done all the researching that you need to do. All that is left is just doing it.

What can you do, or is there really anything that you can do to make it easier. Unfortunately, probably not, you just have to get yourself in gear and get going.

There’s nothing more scarier than the demons in your own mind. No one’s going to yell at you. No one’s going to laugh at you. No one’s going to slam the door in your face or rudely hand up the phone on you. Well, that might actually happen. *smile*

But if it does, so what.

Wouldn’t you rather have that happen to you than have yourself beat yourself one more time. You’ve done that enough, haven’t you?

There is no cure for procrastination, other than not procrastinating.

Blessed by the wonders of the internet I found this awesome gem in one of my emails recently, which of course spurred the blog post;

“A road well begun is the battle half won. The important thing is to make a beginning and get under way.”

by Soren Kierkegaard (1813–1855), a Danish philosopher and writer.

Now get yourself going, truly the hardest step is the first one.

Talkin’ to myself and feelin’ old
Sometimes I’d like to quit
Nothing ever seems to fit
Hangin’ around
Nothing to do but frown
Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down.

What I’ve got they used to call the blues
Nothin’ is really wrong
Feelin’ like I don’t belong
Walkin’ around
Some kind of lonely clown
Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down.

Funny but it seems I always wind up here with you
Nice to know somebody loves me
Funny but it seems that it’s the only thing to do
Run and find the one who loves me.

What I feel has come and gone before
No need to talk it out
We know what it’s all about
Hangin’ around
Nothing to do but frown
Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down.

Now Mondays on the other hand are another thing. What Mondays mean to me are the end of my weekend. The end getting to see my boys every second and being with the beautiful blonde woman.

The day job takes that precious rest of the week that I’d rather spend with them. So come Monday morning I stomp back off and do what men are supposed to do to take care of their families. Say the yes sir’s and no ma’ams till the time clock says I get to return home to my family.

Sometimes I’d like to quit….but I don’t. It’s not really what I do, I keep going.

So unfortunately for my family, sometimes Sunday evenings, those feelings start creeping in that I didn’t spend enough time with them that weekend. Or that maybe I didn’t get to that one project that I wanted to didn’t get done.

It’s a vicious circle.

But my family does love me, can’t get enough me and it’s those moments that I do get to share with them that are the times that I truly live for.

Now go enjoy your family, I’m going to go enjoy mine.

Success Through A Positive Mental Attitude

Okay here’s the story, I was 21 and far from home, working as a assistant store manager. Due to the economy and turn down in available work, my position was phased out. That was many moons ago, but a familiar story that many are facing today.

Anyway, I was in need of finding a way to pay some bills and was introduced to door-to-door sales. Exactly, talk about trial by fire! Sink or swim, yes, you got it.

Luckily for me, I was trained by this tough-as-leather older lady that could be as sweet as honey (when she needed to) or could be tough as nails to get through to the decision-maker at a company.

Anyway, once I was left to my own devices, I needed a way to amp my own self up to get into the door. Cold Call Sales is not for the faint of heart. Without the prodding of my trainer, I found it too easy to drift off and make up reasons not to make the call or walk into a stranger’s door.

This book, “Success Through A Positive Mental Attitude” by Napoleon Hill was one of my first attempts to change my mindset.

I would sit by the side of the road and read a few passages, just enough to take the edge off, then off I would go. Read, re-read and do it all over again. It helped me in numerous ways.

One of it’s beginning thoughts, and probably the core one to the book is YOU are the most important living person. Your success, your health, wealth and happiness depends on you use that knowledge.

Realizing that helped me become a little more teflon when I went through that door.

This unwillingness to take responsibility for their own actions still is baffling me. But taking a step back, I have to realize that not everyone has traveled my same path. Nor have they read the books that I have read. And they may not have had the same guidance from mentors or leaders that I have had. So I must use all of those past experiences and knowledge to lend my own leadership skills to them.

Definition of Accountability

ac·count·abil·i·ty : the quality or state of being accountable; especially : an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one’s actions

I recently had to confront someone about some actions that they had taken. And I was in complete awe to the point that I had to shake my head of their inability to see how their actions had resulted in additional costs to the company and additional work hours to other staff. I was dumbfounded.

The trouble that I was having that this person was of an equal age. Had this person been younger, then the fatherly mentor part of myself could have stepped forward and tended to the task at hand. But that was not the situation. So the mistake on my part was to come at the situation that this person had the same life’s knowledge that I had.

I had learned long ago that you “Man Up”, take responsibility for the decisions that you make and learn from the right or wrong of those decisions. That the fault is not in making the wrong decision but in not taking ownership of it.

If you own up to the decisions that you make i.e. Be Accountable, then you are taking steps to learning from the process.
